Police Sergeant

Police sergeant

The police sergeant works at the front desk of the police station. He appears in "The Best Things in Life" and is played by Michael Sheard.

Profile[]

Jeremy Brown and Ali meet the police sergeant when they arrive to pick up Jamila, who has been brought in for stealing a magazine. Mr. Brown tries to slip the sergeant a £5 note along with his license to convince him to let Jamila go, which he does after accepting Mr. Brown's "donation" to the police charity fund (ironically remarking "You scratch my back, and I'll scratch yours" as he takes the money).

Mr. Brown, along with Miss Courtney and his entire EFL class, meets the police sergeant a second time after they are caught trying to quietly return several items Jamila had unwittingly stolen from a supermarket. The sergeant accepts another donation to the police charity fund, but gets so annoyed with the students while trying to collect their names for his report that he dismisses them without taking it, making Mr. Brown promise never to bring the students back "even if they've committed murder."
